Product Details
The lightest and fastest alloy full-suspension bike in its class, the Chisel is 18.4% lighter than its closest competitor and shares its geometry and kinematics with the World Cup-proven Specialized Epic 8 mountain bike. It delivers performance you can feel, whether you’re racing between the tape or pushing hard on local trails.
Thanks to D’Aluisio Smartweld technology, the Chisel features the lightest aluminium XC frameset in its category. Each frame tube is carefully engineered with variable wall thickness and shaping, providing stiffness for efficiency while maintaining compliance for comfort and control.
With 110mm of Ride Dynamics tuned suspension, the Chisel’s capability comes directly from the Epic 8 platform. Its advanced suspension kinematics and progressive geometry, developed on demanding World Cup courses, allow it to handle varied terrain with confidence and speed.
Efficiency is a defining trait of the Chisel. Its steep seat tube positions the rider optimally for pedalling, while refined anti-squat characteristics minimise pedal bob. The result is maximum power transfer and forward motion with every pedal stroke.
The flex-stay rear design delivers excellent suspension performance while reducing weight and maintenance by eliminating traditional pivots. Commonly found on carbon bikes, this design has been successfully adapted into the Chisel’s advanced alloy frame.
Further weight savings are achieved through a one-piece hydroformed seat tube, which integrates the seat tube pivot, main pivot, and bottom bracket shell into a single structure.
Key Features
The frame is constructed from D’Aluisio Smartweld hydroformed alloy with engineered tube junctions, featuring flip-chip geometry adjustment and 110mm of rear travel. Suspension duties are handled by a RockShox SID fork with 120mm travel and a Rush damper, paired with a Ride Dynamics tuned RockShox Deluxe Select+ rear shock.
A TranzX dropper post is included for improved control on descents, while shifting is managed by a SRAM Eagle 70 T-Type rear derailleur.
Technical Specifications
The frameset uses Specialized D’Aluisio Smartweld M5 alloy with hydroformed tubes, progressive XC geometry, internal cable routing, a BSA bottom bracket, 12x148mm spacing, and compatibility with a 30.9mm dropper post. The seat binder is a Specialized alloy 34.9 with a steel bolt.
Suspension includes a RockShox Deluxe Select+ rear shock with two-position adjustment and rebound control, sized at 190x40mm. The front fork is a RockShox SID with Rush damper, 44mm offset, 15x110mm thru-axle, and 120mm of travel.
Braking is handled by SRAM DB6 hydraulic disc brakes with 4-piston calipers, using a 180mm rotor at the front and 160mm at the rear.
The drivetrain features SRAM Eagle 70 T-Type 12-speed shifting, paired with an XS-1270 Transmission cassette offering a 10–52T range. The setup includes a SRAM Eagle 70 chain, SRAM X1000 Eagle crankset with DUB interface, and a 32T chainring, running on a SRAM DUB threaded wide bottom bracket.
Wheel and tyre setup includes Specialized alloy rims that are tubeless-ready with a 27mm internal width. The front hub is a Specialized alloy unit with sealed cartridge bearings and a 15x110mm thru-axle, while the rear hub uses a 12x148mm thru-axle. Stainless 14g spokes are used throughout. The front tyre is a Specialized Ground Control in 29x2.35, and the rear is a Specialized Fast Trak in the same size. Inner tubes are Specialized Turbo Tubes.
The cockpit includes a Specialized 3D-forged alloy stem with a 7-degree rise, paired with a 760mm wide Specialized alloy handlebar with 20mm rise. Grips are Specialized Trail Grips, and the saddle is a Body Geometry Power Sport with steel rails. The TranzX dropper post comes in varying travel depending on frame size.
